Mitchell J. Brown Sworn In As Council-member

Joined by family, Mitchell J. Brown was sworn in Friday as a member of the Columbus City Council.

Brown was appointed by Council to fill the remaining two years of the unexpired term of former Councilmember Eileen Y. Paley, who was elected Franklin County Municipal Court judge.

“I’m honored by the opportunity to serve Columbus residents as a member of City Council,” said Brown. “I look forward to working with my colleagues and Mayor Andrew J. Ginther to lift up all of our great neighborhoods and to keep Columbus as the engine that drives central Ohio.”

Brown is a former Director of the Columbus Department of Public Safety, serving in that role under former Mayor Michael B. Coleman from 2000 to 2014.

Brown’s prior public service also includes service as Director of the Ohio Lottery Commission under former Gov. Bob Taft; Director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety under former Gov. George V. Voinovich; Registrar of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, also under Voinovich, and as former Director of the Cleveland Department of Public Safety.
