Promoting Civility in American Politics
[COLUMBUS, OH] – The political discourse in America
is changing. Columbus City Councilmember Michael Stinziano will open a town
hall discussion on civility in American politics on Friday, March 18, 2016, in
the Atrium of the Ohio Statehouse, 1 Capitol Square, at 10am.
“The voters are concerned with the current tone of politics
today,” said Stinziano. “Leaders on both sides of the aisle are listening, and
we hope to share practical solutions to address this problem.”
Councilmember Stinziano will join representatives from
government at all levels, political parties, major organizations, the media,
the public, high schools students from across the state, and civility
organizations for the forum, entitled “Can We Talk? Moving From Discord to
Dialogue,” a Town Meeting on Civility in Public Discourse.
Registration begins at 9am, and the program lasts from 10am
to 4pm. The event is free, but RSVPs are required because space is limited.
Those wishing to attend can RSVP to Jennifer Moreland at [email protected]. The forum will
also be live streamed at www.ohiochannel.org.
