Shannon Hardin joined city council in October 2014 after helping launch and lead numerous programs and initiatives that have improved our city’s quality of life and provided important services to residents.

About Councilmember Hardin As external affairs manager for the office of Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Councilmember Hardin led the development of the Columbus Volunteer Challenge, a partnership with the United Way of Central Ohio through which Columbus residents, businesses, non-profits, schools, universities, faith organizations, and other community groups come together in service to help build a community that is more inspired, proud, and engaged.

Councilmember Hardin helped launch the Restoration Academy, an annual program that offers paid City of Columbus internships to restored citizens, many of whom go on to secure full-time employment with the city. Hardin also worked with the Columbus Urban League on the African American Male Initiative, which empowers men in our community with life-changing strategies in the areas of responsible fatherhood, youth mentorship, and ex-offender re-entry. - learn more
