Kitchen Essentials: You do not need a lot of time, money, or tools to cook healthy delicious food. This class will cover the importance of meal planning and how to navigate a grocery store. The class will focus on using oats in breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Participants will sample Mexican Oats, healthy cookies, crustless quiches, and will make and sample 3 different smoothies. Recipes for 7 meals will be provided.
Kitchen Cents: Many people believe that cooking healthy foods is expensive but it can be done on a budget! You will be provided with tips to incorporate and shop for inexpensive ingredients. Instructors will focus on using beans in a variety of recipes at every meal-time. Beans are very cheap and have a lot of nutrients to keep you fuller for longer. Participants will sample turkey chili, black bean brownies and will prepare and sample a quinoa black bean salad and hummus. Recipes for 6 meals will be provided.
Meals on the Run: Healthy cooking does not have to be time consuming! This class is designed to teach ways to eat healthy when you're on the go. You will learn about healthy substitutions and balanced snacks to keep you full between meals. Participants will sample a hearty butternut squash soup, roasted squash seeds and will prepare and sample a butternut squash salad. Recipes for 5 meals will be provided.
