DETAILS:
Columbus Public Health (CPH) practices disease prevention and control by using an Integrated Pest Management methodology. CPH traps mosquitoes, investigates mosquito complaints and treats standing water to kill larval mosquitoes. Spraying areas are based on adult mosquito trap results and reports from field staff, the number and type of mosquitoes trapped, and proximity to places West Nile Virus has been detected in the past. They are not decided by the number of complaints from any given area. Weekly maps are posted on the Columbus Public Health Web site, and are subject to change due to inclement weather or new mosquito activity information.
