THIRD IN SERIES OF SIGNATURE FARMER MARKETS AT COLUMBUS PUBLIC HEALTH
Signature Markets Provide Local Fresh Produce on Near East Side

WHAT
Columbus Public Health holds the final of three farmers market for this season to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables on Columbus’ Near East Side. This follows the markets held on July 25 and August 2 which have already served 3,762 people and provided 2,580 coupon/vouchers used toward the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables.

DETAILS
The third in a series of farmers markets at Columbus Public Health. Area farmers will offer locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to neighborhood residents and participants of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program and the Ohio Direction Card.

The markets support Columbus Public Health’s mission of protecting health and improving lives because many chronic health conditions – including diabetes, overweight and obesity – are related to poor nutrition.

Thousands of community members are expected to attend the markets which are in their 9th year.
