City and County Community Garden Grants to be Announced 
Earth Day to be Marked at Franklin Park Conservatory 


WHAT:
Current and past grant recipients are invited to join the City of Columbus, Franklin County, ScottsMiracle-Gro and other community partners on Earth Day, April 22, 2014, to celebrate the community garden movement in central Ohio. The event will take place at the ScottsMiracle-Gro Community Garden Campus at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Marilyn Brown, Franklin County Commissioner; Dr. Teresa Long, Columbus Public Health Commissioner; Bruce Harkey, Franklin Park Conservatory Executive Director; Su Lok, Scotts Miracle-Gro Company; and, Dr. Stephen Ing, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

DETAILS:      
Franklin County and the City of Columbus, in cooperation with Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the ScottsMiracle-Gro Company will announce grant funding for 33 gardens during an Earth Day program at Franklin Park Conservatory. 

The collaborative program, now in its fourth year, recognizes the benefits of community gardens, and supports existing gardens in the City of Columbus and throughout Franklin County and encourages the creation of new ones. In 2014, we are supported in part by Whole Foods.

Grant recipients will be announced in a program beginning at 10:30 am
