[email protected] Columbus Art Walks & Landmark Talks Offer Residents and Visitors the Best in Art, History, and Architecture
Columbus Public Health will partner again with the Columbus Landmarks Foundation for a second year to offer Columbus Art Walks and Landmark Talks, a free series of guided walking tours highlighting the history, architecture, and fine arts in various Columbus neighborhoods. Funded by the Ohio Humanities Council, the series offers residents and visitors the opportunity to explore Columbus neighborhoods on foot alongside local historians and tour guides.
The hour-long tours provide a new perspective of the neighborhoods by transforming them into positive, interactive spaces that encourage dialogue and enhance a sense of pride and ownership of the area. An overwhelming majority—over 90%—of 2013 season participants agreed that they gained a greater appreciation for the humanities after taking a guided tour.
The first walk of the 2014 season will kick-off on June 2, 2014, at 6:30 pm at Genoa Park in Franklinton. The hour-long guided tour will introduce participants to the role of the humanities in shaping Franklinton’s unique character, tracing its origins from the material and cultural features still present today.
