Columbus Public Health to Spray Area Neighborhoods to Prevent West Nile Virus
Two New Cases of West Nile Virus Diagnosed in Columbus This Week

WHAT:  Columbus Public Health (CPH) will be spraying the areas highlighted in our on-line map to help control disease in our region.

Two new cases of West Nile Virus have been diagnosed in Columbus this week. The areas where the individuals reside have sprayed in the past month, and are scheduled to be sprayed again. They include the Far East, and South West regions of the city.

We ask residents protect themselves and their families when outdoors.

•  Wear insect repellant containing DEET (follow package directions)

•  Limit outdoor activity at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active

Public Health leaders urge neighbors to help remove temporary pools of water around your property. Include clearing debris from ditches, cutting small channels to help pooling water drain, or filling in holes and tire ruts with dirt.

Columbus Public Health will continue to trap mosquitoes, treat standing water and spray in area neighborhoods to protect our residents.
