People
are Encouraged to Test for an Added Layer of Protection before All Summer
Activities
Columbus
Public Health will be distributing free COVID-19 home test kits ahead of the 4th
of July weekend.
Free test kits will be
available by drive-thru at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
June 28 and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 29, while supplies last:
- Columbus Public Health - front loop (240 Parsons Ave.)
- Columbus Fire Station #10 (1096 W.
Broad St.)
- Columbus Fire Station #18 (1630 Cleveland Ave.)
Participants are limited to
two COVID-19 tests per person/eight tests per vehicle. Free fentanyl
test strips and Narcan also will be available, while supplies last.
Residents
are encouraged to test before they gather with family and friends for July 4th
and all summer activities as an added layer of protection against
COVID-19. You should also test if you have
any signs of COVID-19 and stay home if you test positive or you are sick.
“COVID-19 has not gone away and we must use every tool we
have before we gather for summer holidays and activities,” said Health
Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts. “The best protection is getting vaccinated
and boosted, but testing before you gather adds another layer that protects you
and the entire community.”
The best way to prevent
serious illness and death from COVID-19 is to stay up-to-date on COVID-19
vaccines and booster doses. Columbus
Public Health offers all COVID-19 vaccines and boosters for everyone 6 months
of age and up. Learn more at www.Columbus.gov/c19vax.
