Local Food Action Plan Neighborhood Planning Summaries
Between September 2013 and August 2015, Local Matters facilitated a series of neighborhood community-engagement and food planning processes in Columbus. This neighborhood-by-neighborhood process sought to identify existing resources relative to food education, food access and food production in seven communities; and develop goals and a plan of action for a neighborhood food plan. Initial plans were developed with the West Side, Near East Side (PACT geographical area), and Near South Columbus, in conjunction with support from community partners in these neighborhoods. These first pilot sessions included three community meetings. For the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan development, a two-meeting process was conducted in Clintonville, Linden, Northland and Weinland Park. The following reports include information provided by community members that helped shape the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan.
