Minority Health Advisory

Program Information

Are you interested in improving the health of minority populations? The Office of Minority Health Advisory Committee is open to all who are interested in issues related to minority health and wellness. Join us for our bi-monthly meetings to help improve the health of our community. The Minority Health Advisory Committee is charged with:

  1. Helping facilitate access to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations and service agencies/organizations.
  2. Helping facilitate knowledge of and access to funding and grant opportunities for the Office of Minority Health initiatives and their endorsement.
  3. Helping with accessing agencies/organizations that provide services to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  4. Facilitating collaborative relationships with and among agencies/organizations that provide services to racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  5. Acting as a sounding board for ideas of how to facilitate access to and utilization of services by racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  6. Helping with data collection and survey development to facilitate better understanding of racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  7. Helping with creating a yearly calendar of events (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin County) which address health and social issues impacting racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
  8. Recommending speakers we can invite to board meetings to speak on issues impacting racial/ethnic and immigrant/refugee populations.
