Language Services

Why are Language Services Important?

Access to language services is a patient right according to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VI and the Department of Health and Human Services regulations, 45 C.F.R. Section 80.3(b)(2) require recipients of federal financial assistance from HHS to take reasonable steps to provide meaningful access to Limited English Proficient persons.

It’s not just the law, it’s also good practice. Providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services enables us to provide informed care that can lead to better health outcomes for our community and promotes equity and inclusion.
