Construction set to begin on Parsons Avenue between Broad Street and Franklin Avenue
The city of Columbus is continuing its
initiative to improve the public infrastructure in Olde
Towne East. The Parsons Avenue project will facilitate traffic flow and
parking, improve safety, update utilities and provide better pedestrian
walkways. Construction
will begin April 24, 2017, subject to weather conditions.
Project
description:
Project consists
of pavement reconstruction on Parsons Avenue, relocation of the curb line and
installation of curb bump-outs
to define parking
areas.
Streetscape improvements include removal, replacement
and widening of existing sidewalks plus addition of street trees
and street lighting.
Traffic signals at Parsons Avenue & Broad Street and Parsons Avenue & Oak Street
will be upgraded, including mast arms.
A turn lane will be added on Broad Street for westbound motorists
to turn left onto Parsons Avenue.
Utility work
incudes burying overhead cables
underground, replacing water lines and improving the storm sewer system.
