Georgesville and Holt improvements
Description and Benefits:
The
City
of Columbus and the Ohio Department of
Transportation are collaborating to
improve the intersection of Georgesville Road and Holt Road
plus Holt Road between Georgesville Road
and Holt Run Drive. The planned improvements
will
reduce
traffic congestion,
improve safety and upgrade pedestrian
facilities.
Current plans include:
- Widening Holt Road between Georgesville Road and
Holt
Run
Drive
- Adding curbs, gutters, street lighting, storm
sewer, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
(ADA) and trees on Holt Road
- Constructing a shared-use path on the east
side and a sidewalk on the west side of Holt Road
- Adding sidewalks, curbs, gutters and ADA curb
ramps on Georgesville Road
- Upgrading traffic signals, signage, pedestrian
countdown timers and push-button signals at crosswalks
Schedule:
- Design: Completed
- Right-of-Way Acquisition: Completed
- Construction: Begins in spring 2016
Estimated
Costs:
Total project $2.8 million.
The Ohio Department of Transportation will fund 90% of the cost, with 10% of
the cost funded by the city of Columbus.
