Project Scope: The city
of Columbus and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) are collaborating
to improve the intersection of Livingston Avenue & Barnett Road. The
planned features will reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and provide
pedestrian accommodations. COTA has a park & ride at the intersection.
Barnett Community Center and the Livingston Public Library are just off the
intersection.
Current plans include:
- Widening Barnett Road
in order to add left-turn lanes
- Building sidewalks on
both sides of Barnett Road up to the first driveway at intersection of Barnett
Park & Johnson Park
- Replacing Americans
with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
- Upgrading traffic
signals, signage, pedestrian countdown timers and push-button signals at
crosswalks
Estimated Costs:
- Design: $230,000
Funded by ODOT
- Right-of-Way
Acquisition: $1 million Funded by City
of Columbus
- Construction: $1.2
million, Funded $720,000 by ODOT and balance by City of Columbus
