Recreation and Parks Commission The Recreation and Parks Commission, appointed and organized under the Charter of the City of Columbus, is empowered to equip, operate, direct and maintain all the existing recreational and park facilities.  In addition, said Commission exercises certain powers and duties as specified in Sections 128 and 129 of the Columbus City Charter.

Derrick R. Clay, President Accountability, Responsibility, Focus and Teamwork are four words that have guided Derrick Clay throughout his professional career. His passion for politics and business date back to his days as student body president in high school and later as president of the Undergraduate Student Government at his alma mater, the University of Akron. Derrick joined New Visions Group in 2004 as vice president and partner after a career in state and national politics. He acquired the firm in 2014 and assumed the title of President/CEO.

Letha Pugh, Vice President Letha is a small business owner and a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing and a Masters Degree in Information Systems from Florida Tech University. Balancing her small business interests with community involvement, is a passion for Letha. A former board President of Stonewall Columbus, she is also the co-founding member of Black, Out and Proud (BOP), Service, A relief effort for hospitality workers displaced from employment at the onset of COVID19 and most recently, The Womens Fund. Letha resides with her wife of 15 years and their 9 year old daughter, Avery, who is an amazing swimmer.

Terrie TerMeer Terrie TerMeer recently retired from public service after 36 years of serving in various levels of state and local government. Under the leadership of the Director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), Terrie held the position of Chief of the Division of Materials & Waste Management (DMWM), a division responsible for regulating nonhazardous waste programs including solid waste, infectious waste, scrap tire management and construction and demolition debris for nearly 3 years. Prior to being named chief at Ohio EPA, Terrie served as Assistant Chief in the Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance (DEFA).

In 2012, Terrie transitioned the Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to Ohio EPA. She had served as Deputy Chief of the division from 2003 until the move.  While at ODNR, Terrie also served as the Deputy Chief and Chief of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1999 to 2002. Terrie worked for nearly two years as Deputy Director of Special Events for the Secretary of State Bob Taft.  Prior to joining the Secretary of State’s Office, she served nearly five years as the Special Assistant to former Columbus Mayor Gregory S. Lashutka.   She also served on the organizing committee and staff for AmeriFlora ’92 and later was appointed as the Director of Public Affairs and EEO Officer.

In addition to having a strong background in community affairs and government relations, TerMeer has a solid understanding of environmental issues.  She served as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Gahanna from 1984-1988 and worked as the Legislative Assistant to the Director while at ODNR from 1977 to 1983.

A resident of Columbus, and mother of two adult children, TerMeer holds a bachelor’s degree from Otterbein University.

Jennifer Adair, ESQ Jennifer Anne Adair is a proud graduate of Columbus City Centennial High School (1998), Northwestern University (B.A., 2002) and Capital University Law School (J.D., 2005).  She is the Equal Employment Opportunity Program Manager serving the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.  In this capacity, she oversees the State of Ohio Internal Discrimination Complaint System and assists State agencies develop Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives. Jennifer resides in the Columbus neighborhood of North Linden with her daughter. She currently serves as Chair of the North Linden Area Commission and Commissioner on the Columbus Recreation and Parks Commission.

Karla Rothan Karla Rothan is a proven nonprofit leader and activist with over thirty years of experience. Rothan began her career as a member of the touring company, MadCap productions, in Cincinnati and subsequently the Columbus Children's Theatre in Columbus, Ohio.

Rothan founded New Venture Theatre in 1992 and continued working for arts organizations like the prestigious Wexner Center for the Arts until 1998. A graduate of The Ohio State University in 1986, Rothan fell in love with Columbus and moved to Central Ohio in 1989.  - Read More

Gregg Dodd is an award-winning marketing and engagement professional with more than two decades of proven experience leading diverse, cross-functional teams in crisis communication, community partnerships and executing against complex marketing and communications plans. He is passionate, resourceful, data-driven and well-versed in both non-traditional and traditional communications and marketing mediums.

Gregg Dodd joined the Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) in 2013 as the Director of Marketing.  Dodd leads the development, planning and implementation of the library’s comprehensive and aligned strategic marketing strategy ensuring that all communications appropriately and accurately express the organization’s vision, community image, position and values.

Prior to joining CML, Gregg spent seven years as the Deputy Director of Communications, Marketing and Events for the Ohio Statehouse and seven years with the Ohio Arts Council serving as their Director of Public Information and Legislative Affairs.

Gregg holds a BA in Communications from the University of Toledo.


Jamie Wilson Jamie Wilson is the Director of Human Resources at Reynoldsburg City School District in Reynoldsburg Ohio. She is a passionate leader, dedicated to empowering youth and working to support them reach their highest potential. She understands the importance of her role as a leader, and is continuously seeking out opportunities that will allow her to have lasting impact within the school district and the greater community.

Prior to becoming the Human Resource Director, Jamie Wilson served as a Middle School Principal for seven years and has been an educator for 16 years. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Education with an emphasis in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University. She was a member of the Women’s Basketball Team, earning the Huskie Scholastic Academic award four years in a row. She also received the M.A.C Academic Commissioner's award, and received various athletic awards. Jamie was captain of the Women’s team, where she began developing her leadership skills.

Jamie Wilson received her Master’s in Educational Administration from Governors State University in Chicago Illinois and in 2020 completed the Superintendent Licensure Program at The Ohio State University. Prior to becoming an administrator Jamie was a teacher in the Chicago area where she also coached, mentored, and served as the mathematics curriculum leader. Jamie returned to Central Ohio, her home community, to continue working with children, serving as an Assistant Principal, Principal and now Director of Human Resources. In her new role she is able to assist in the development of teachers, leaders and school staff who seek to educate students.

Jamie Wilson has always had a desire to teach and work with youth. She comes from a family of educators and has had the unique opportunity to learn from her mother, a retired principal. She believes in giving back to the community and developing others who wish to educate, inspire and work with youth.

Alvis James Moore Alvis James Moore is Rio Grande University alumnus with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications Comprehensive and Secondary Education, and he is a retired Columbus City Schools educator who enjoyed 33 years of teaching, mentoring, and motivating young people.

As an educator, Moore taught 9-12 grade English, Filmmaking, Reading, Journalism, Theater Production and Performance, directed all plays and musicals, assisted with student extra-curricular activities, assisted students in the credit recovery programs, assisted with student preparation for testing, provided lesson plan content and training for substitute teachers, was the union representative for the Whetstone High School teachers at the Columbus Education Association, the Ohio Education Association and National Education Association, facilitated professional development seminars and activities for staff, and other educators, provided an acclaimed Multicultural Education seminar twice a year, for eight years for the graduating teachers at Wilmington College.

Combined with that is a career in broadcasting that began in 1981 on 92X FM and AM 1580 WVKO. Beginning as a co-host on Bob Cunningham’s Gospel Caravan, Alvis was given the opportunity to host a Saturday gospel music show and soon became the host of Praise and Worship Sunday from 1996 until 2002. Despite the ups and downs in the locally owned radio station landscape, Alvis is always a sought out, in demand gospel music programmer, on-air-talent and community liaison. He is still thriving.

In 2014, in addition to being nominated for Radio Announcer of the Year, he was honored by Central South Music Distributions at the Stellar Awards in Nashville, Tennessee for being a trailblazer in gospel music radio. In 2015, he was recognized at the Stellar Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada for his 32 years in gospel music radio and service.

In April of that same year, Alvis was invited to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to stand in honor of the5 Royales, a legendary 1950s and 1960’s R&B group who was being honored with a Legendary Musical Influence Award. Moore’s father, James Moore was a founding member of the group whose hits include, Baby, Don’t Do It, This Is Dedicated to the One I Love, Tell the Truth, Catch That Teardrop, Think, Please, Please, Please, Tears of Joy, and I Know It’s Hard, But It’s Fair.

Followed by that amazing experience was something that Alvis always wanted to do. In October of 2015, he was honored to be a presenter at the 2015 Kingdom Image Awards.

As a local playwright and performing artist, he was recruited by the Commission for Minority Health, in the early parts of 2000, to write informational skits about diabetes and its impact on the Black community.

Having no ability to keep still, after retirement, Alvis worked as a facilitator and case manager in re-entry programs. After that, he became an instructor, Education Director, Career Services and Placement Director, and the Academic and Student Services Director at the Ohio Media School for six years. Currently, he is a part of the AmeriCorps Mentors for Success Program as a mentor, Justice Talk facilitator and community connections.

Moore loves cooking big meals for his family, reading, composing, directing musical groups and spoiling his two sons, four grandchildren and wife.
