COLUMBUS – The Columbus Cultural Arts Center (CAC) has announced its August 2021 calendar of events.
Exhibitions:
Works by Sharone Putter and Philip Sorenson
July 16-Aug. 21, Main Gallery
This dual exhibition features new works by artist Sharone Putter as she explores the world of construction through lithographs and mixed media drawings. Sculptor and attorney Philip Sorensen is celebrated in a posthumous exhibition of his work titled “Workscapes: Law, Lumber, Stone,” curated by his family.

July 16-Aug. 21, Loft Gallery
CAC instructors Tanya Pirasteh and Vasiliev Nini share 2D and 3D works created by their students in disciplines ranging from drawing to clay. The exhibition is curated by ¡Katie B Funk!.
Works by Elaine Fleck
Aug. 27-Oct. 2, Main Gallery
Artist Elaine Fleck presents a selection of mixed media works, merging fabric and oils into unique representations of the human figure, landscapes and still life. This exhibition is a blending of rich textures and vibrant colors that focus on nature and how humans are an integral part of it.

Aug. 27-Oct. 2, Loft Gallery
CAC’s Artist-in-Residence program will conclude its first session with Lawson’s debut of new works, featuring assemblage, drawing, painting and sculpture.

This free program features a different artist every other week, sharing insights into their creative process.
Aug. 5: Joseph B. Buehrer, a digital artist who specializes in illustration and 3D design, will join us to share his artistic process and works.
Aug. 12: Join us for a discussion covering the life and works of the late sculptor and attorney Philip Sorensen and the posthumous exhibition of his work titled “Workscapes: Law, Lumber, Stone.” This discussion will be led by his daughter, Becky Sorensen Bowers.
Aug. 26: Father John Predmore, S.J., an artist from Boston, MA, will discuss his artistic practice, which focuses on photography, watercolors and oils.

- Masks = Kindness. Face coverings are highly encouraged, though not required.
- Social distancing - staying six feet away from others - must be observed at all times, with an understanding of the challenges and limitations for social distancing with very young children and individuals with disabilities.
- If you are feeling sick (cough, fever, nausea, runny nose, etc.), you must stay home.
- Only one person is permitted in the elevator at a time, with the exception of individuals requiring assistance and families/members of the same household.
