Columbus Recreation and Parks Department Announces Reopening of Golden Hobby Gift Shop
COLUMBUS – Columbus Recreation and Parks
Department will reopen the Golden Hobby Gift Shop on Tuesday, May 18 at its new
location in the Columbus Performing Arts Center (CPAC), located at 549 Franklin
Ave. The shop will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
Golden Hobby
Gift Shop is a senior arts and consignment shop that offers an array of
handmade goods for sale, including quilts, ceramics, woodcrafts, paintings and
more, all made by Columbus-area seniors. Staffed by Columbus Recreation and
Parks Department employees and a group of dedicated senior volunteers, the shop
also offers a variety of art- and craft-making classes, ranging in skill level
from beginner to advanced.
“The Golden Hobby Gift Shop
has been a special place for seniors in our community and for visitors to our
city for 50 years,” said Paul Rakosky, interim director of Columbus Recreation
and Parks Department. “We are excited to reopen this unique shop and look
forward to welcoming consigners and shoppers back.”
A staple in the community
since 1971, the shop’s reopening at its new location in the downtown Discovery
District comes after it closed in March 2020 due to the public health
emergency.
