Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to Close Facilities Through May 1 Due to the continued monitoring of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department’s facilities, playgrounds, sports courts (including basketball courts and tennis courts) and public recreational equipment will remain closed through Friday, May 1. With nearly 400 parks, 160 playgrounds, 107 basketball courts and 230 miles of regional trails, the department serves as an essential resource for helping residents of all ages focus on their mental and physical health.
