Community Giveaway Helps Families in Need
COLUMBUS – Columbus Recreation
and Parks Department will host a community giveaway this weekend. This
drive-thru event will provide free food, book bags, shoes and toiletries to
residents. The event is open to all community members, though students must be
present to receive a book bag.
What: Because We Care Community Giveaway
When: Aug. 21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Far East Community Center, 1826 Lattimer Drive, 43227
"Many residents in
our community are still struggling with the effects of the pandemic, and are
having challenges buying basic supplies," said Eric Brandon, assistant
director of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department's Youth and Family
Development Division. "Families are gearing up for in-person learning, and
this is a way to reduce stress and help them get the school year off to a good
start."
The event is hosted by
Columbus Recreation and Parks in partnership with Iota Phi Theta
Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Eta Omega Chapter, Iota Sweethearts
Inc., Corrupted Public Records and Lindsay Honda. Partners include:
