Kathleen McGarvey
Kathleen McGarvey is the Director of The Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC). Previously, she worked as the Deputy Director at LASC as well as the managing attorney for the health and benefits team. She was also a staff attorney and Project Director for the Health Consumer Alliance with the National Health Law Program in Los Angeles. Ms. McGarvey is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law and earned her B.A. from Ohio University.
During her practice, Ms. McGarvey has participated in a number of major litigation cases. This has included Medicaid litigation at both the state and federal level. She has worked extensively on policy advocacy through coalitions, by submitting comments on proposed rule changes, and by regular meetings with policy makers. In September of 2014, Kate became the co-chair of the statewide legal services health and welfare taskforce where she coordinates advocacy efforts across the state. Kate has also worked on a number of major publications and presentations around health coverage for low-income individuals.
Kate lives in Clintonville with her husband, Ed Forman, their six year old daughter Hattie, and 3 year old son Jamie.
