Moler Street Overflow Interceptor Sewer
Bounded by: W. Moler Street on South, S. High Street on East, Scioto River on West and W. Gates Street on North, this project will redirect combined sewer overflows that discharge to Scioto River. Construction will start winter of 2021 and be completed winter of 2022.

SWWTP Boiler Project
Several issues were identified through troubleshooting once the 2015 S81 Project was closed. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2021 and will last approximately 18 months. Work will be completed so only 1 boiler is out of service at a time.

Big Walnut Sanitary Trunk Extension Phase 2
This project will extend sanitary sewer service further into northeastern Franklin County and southern Delaware County service areas. Construction is currently estimated to begin in mid-year 2021, with the entire project completed by the end of 2024. Traffic impacts are being mitigated through restricted hauling hours and designated hauling routes.

Blacklick Creek Sanitary Interceptor Sewer (BCSIS) - Air Quality Control Facility
Located at 7154 Blacklick Ridge Boulevard, construction should begin first quarter 2021 and completed by the end of 2022. Traffic impacts should be minimal and invitations to a public meeting before construction will be sent those in the immediate area. This project will provide improved air quality and odor control for the region and aid in the reduction of sewer system corrosion.

Williams/Behm HSTS Elimination Project
This project will extend sanitary sewer service in the Williams Rd/Behm Rd area, replacing home sewage treatment systems to eliminate the potential of ground water contamination. Construction is expected to begin in second quarter of 2021 and be complete by second quarter of 2022. Impacted residents will receive notice prior to construction with info on the timing of the work and contact information.

Center Large Diameter Rehabilitation Project
This project will perform rehabilitation of the City’s sewers in downtown Columbus. Construction is expected to begin in early 2021 and be completed early in 2022. Impacted residents will receive written notification from the contractor prior to the work with information on timing and contacts.

Lower Olentangy Tunnel (LOT)
A key element in the “Integrated Plan and 2015 Wet Weather Management Plan Updated Report," LOT will connect into the upstream end of the previously constructed OSIS Augmentation Relief Sewer (OARS) at Vine Street. The upstream end of LOT will be located north of Lane Avenue.

Alum Creek Storm Tanks - Real Time Control
Pending approval, construction is expected to begin in late Fall of 2020. The goal of the project is to mitigate sewer overflow to Alum Creek at near Roads End Place and prevent river inflow and infiltration to the sanitary sewer.

JPWWTP Raw Sewage Pump Valve Project
Construction of this project is roughly estimated to begin in the fall of 2020 and extend through the fall of 2021. This project will replace the hydraulic system with individual actuator systems to allow for multiple cone valves to be on operation at the same time, giving the plant more flexibility when starting pumps.

Southerly UST Removal & Building Heating Improvements
This project will replace the heating system for the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant and includes the removal of three large underground (fuel oil) storage tanks currently used to supply fuel to the boilers at the plant. Removal of the tanks permanently eliminates any risk of potential groundwater contamination.

Whittier Street Storm Tank Upgrades
These tanks serve as a temporary retention/primary treatment facility. It has been in operation since 1986 without upgrades and now requires repairs. The project is expected to begin in 2020 and to be completed in two years.

Third Avenue Relief Sewer - Phase 3
Includes the design and construction of sanitary sewer along West Third Avenue between Edgehill Road and Northwest Boulevard. It includes new and replacement concrete sidewalks and curb ramps to complete a continuous pedestrian path. Construction will start in winter 2020 and be completed in winter 2021.

This project will reduce emissions to the atmosphere, replace equipment that has reached the end of its useful life, and increase flexibility within DOSD’s biosolids beneficial use program, resulting in better control of odors emitted to the surrounding area. This project will rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer mains and manholes, reducing occurrences of water in basements and sewerage overflows to area streams and rivers. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2019.

Blacklick Creek Sanitary Interceptor Sewer Tunnel
The BCSIS is an extension of an existing 66-inch sewer that currently ends near Blacklick Ridge Blvd. It will have a finished diameter of 10 feet and constructed at a depth of 30 feet below ground at its start, ending at a depth of 140 feet. The estimated cost is $109 million with an anticipated completion in 2020.

Woodward Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project
This project will provide new residential sanitary service for 14 existing homes that are currently served septic tank systems, as well as extending existing sanitary sewers. The project will be advertised for bid in 2017 and the City will issue the Notice to Proceed in 2018, pending final approval from OEPA. The project is due to be completed in 2020.

JP Primary Clarifiers Electrical Upgrades Project
The project will replace deteriorating electrical equipment installed in the early 1990’s to increase reliability of the primary treatment processes, reduce maintenance costs, improve overall safety and increase systems life. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2018 with financing provided by a below-market rate loan obtained through the OEPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF).

Brimfield Area Sanitary System Repair Project
Pending approval, construction will start in spring 2018 and be completed in the fall of 2018. The project area is generally bounded by: Brimfield Road on South, Beechcroft Road on East, Tamarack Blvd. on West and Forest Village Lane on North. This project will replace sections of a sanitary sewer system that has settled and holds standing water which can cause basement backups.

Williams Rd/Castle Rd Sanitary Pump Station Control Valve Upgrade
This project will replace equipment due to extended wear and long term use at two sanitary pump stations serving the south end of Columbus. Proposed improvements include replacement of pump discharge control valves, updating the electrical system and existing SCADA system. It will be advertised for construction bids in 2017 and is due to be completed in 2018.

Lockbourne Intermodal Subtrunk (LIS) Extension

Alum Creek Sanitary Sewer Rehab Project
Constructed in the late 1960s, the Alum Creek Sewer has started to crack and erode. The City will perform “trenchless” rehabilitation of approximately 6,700 lineal feet to extend its life. Estimated cost is approximately $6 million with construction expected to be completed by fall 2018. Every effort will be made to reduce any disruption to public

This sewer must be repaired in order to continue serving the surrounding areas. It includes “trenchless” rehabilitation along with spot repairs in various locations in order to extend its service life.
