Downtown On-Street Parking Restrictions at Parking Meters and Other Locations and Street Closures Before, During and After Red, White & Boom
To ease the flow of heavy vehicle
traffic, parking restrictions will be in place on numerous downtown streets
before, during and immediately after Red, White & Boom. While some parking
restrictions will begin as early as Sunday, June 28, most parking meters will
be bagged starting at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. Signs will be posted
in these areas to remind motorists that while they can legally park there after
10 p.m., there will be no overnight parking. Any vehicles remaining beginning
at 3 a.m., Friday, July 3, will be ticketed and towed. During the hours
of parking restrictions, parking meters will be bagged and temporary No Parking
signs will be posted where no meters exist.
Beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, July
3, all streets within the following boundaries will be closed:
- North: Spring Street
- South: Mound Street/West Rich Street
- East: 3rd Street
- West: McDowell Street/Anson Street/Hocking
Street
All closed streets will reopen at
12:01 a.m., Saturday, July 4, except the following streets that will reopen at
5 a.m., Saturday, July 4:
- South 2nd Street, between West Rich
Street and West Main Street
- Civic Center Drive, between West Broad Street
and West Rich Street
- West Long Street, between Marconi Boulevard and
Hocking Street
- West Main Street, between the Main Street Bridge
and South Front Street
- Marconi Boulevard, between West Broad Street and
West Long Street
- West Nationwide Boulevard, between North Front Street
and Neil Avenue
The following closures will be in
effect following the conclusion of the Red, White & Boom fireworks show
Friday night, July 3, through 12:01 a.m., Saturday, July 4:
- Eastbound I-70 exit ramp to West Broad Street
- Westbound I-70 exit ramp to West Broad Street
- Northbound I-71 exit ramp to Greenlawn Avenue
- Southbound I-71 exit ramp to Greenlawn Avenue
- Eastbound lanes of McKinley Avenue east of North
Central Avenue
- Northbound North Souder Avenue between McKinley
Avenue and Dublin Road (northbound traffic on North Souder Avenue will be
detoured onto westbound McKinley Avenue)
Motorists are reminded to be alert
for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling to and from Red, White & Boom
festivities. Motorists and bicyclists must obey all traffic laws and, by law,
must share the road legally and safely. Bicyclists riding after sunset and
before sunrise are required by law to have operational headlights, taillights
and reflectors on their bikes.
