GreenSpot was inspired by people like you. People who looked to the City of Columbus for answers to some important questions. Like, what exactly does green mean? How can I get green? How does being green impact our city? That's the genesis of GreenSpot.

Founded in 2008 by former Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, it's a place where people in our city go to learn about living and working greener, and commit to doing it—in their homes, businesses, and communities.

National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation

Mayor Ginther, GreenSpot and the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation

Columbus you answered the call! More than 15,000 took the My Water Pledge and because of that we are ranked #1 in the big city category for the Wyland Foundation's Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation Pledge! Those that took the pledge plan to cut their water use by 65.4 million gallons over the next year. Additional savings include reduction of 176,806 single-use plastic water bottles, elimination of 3,836 pounds of hazardous waste from entering watersheds, send 1.7 million fewer pounds of waste to area landfills. Potential savings of 483,000 gallons of oil, 281 million pounds of carbon dioxide, 4.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity, and $819,436 in consumer cost savings rounded out the final pledge results. Read the full press release here. The Wyland Foundation helps children and families around the nation to rediscover the importance of healthy oceans and waterways through public art programs, classroom science education, and live events.
