Working with federal authorities and cybersecurity experts, the City of Columbus continues its investigation and response to a July cybersecurity incident.
The SMOC Facility Stormwater Improvements project will construct green infrastructure (GI) including bioretention basins, rain gardens, extended detention basin, and a pervious parking area at the City of Columbus Sewer Maintenance Operation Center (SMOC) at 1250 Fairwood Avenue. View the project area map(PDF, 248KB).
The GI will provide detention and water quality improvement to storm runoff from the facility. Two fabric walled structures will be constructed over the facility’s dewatering and washdown areas as part of the project. Construction is expected to begin in first quarter 2025 and be completed by third quarter 2026.
Financing is being provided through a below market-rate loan through the OEPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) Program. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Sewerage and Drainage to determine the project’s eligibility.
