Eureka-Fremont Area Water Line Improvements

CIP# 690236-100143

This project will be constructed as part of the Division of Water’s (DOW) Replacement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Program and is located in the Greater Hilltop Community Area (see map(PDF, 534KB)).

The goal of this project is to replace existing 6-inch and 8-inch water mains that have a high break frequency with new 8-inch Ductile Iron ones. Replacement of these water mains will improve water service, decrease burden on water maintenance operations, and reduce water loss.

The project will include approximately 2,250 linear feet of water main replacement. The existing water mains are 106 years in age. Along with the installation of new water mains, the project will also include new fire hydrant installations and water service transfers. Construction is expected to begin in the winter of 2022/2023.

Prior to construction, the Neighborhood Liaisons will be contacted and informed of the project. Further community outreach may result though the Neighborhood Liaison Program. Notification letters will also be mailed out in advance to residents located near the project area. These letters will provide detailed information regarding the project and important contact numbers.

DOW plans to fund this project with a below market-rate loan through the Ohio EPA’s Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) Program. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Water to determine the project’s eligibility for the program.
