"One Linden: Our Community. Our Future. Our Progress." event to showcase Linden's transformation

Columbus, OH – The City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods, in partnership with the Linden community, is proud to announce the "One Linden: Our Community. Our Future. Our Progress” report. It is a celebration of the ongoing initiatives and collaborative efforts driving positive change in Linden.

This event will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the Ohio History Center, located at 800 E. 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211. The City of Columbus and the Linden community invite residents, stakeholders and media representatives to attend this important event.

The One Linden report will highlight the progress made through community engagement and strategic partnerships. It focuses on 10 Big Ideas: to stabilize and expand housing options, support student success, reimagine Cleveland Avenue, connect the community, connect residents to employment, reduce crime and improve perception, support entrepreneurs and develop business, build community investment, address early childhood experience and support resident health.

The event will feature:

  • 4 P.M. – Vendor Engagement: Attendees can engage with over 10 key vendors representing vital initiatives in Linden.

  • 5 P.M. – Event Program: A formal program in the Auditorium will feature remarks from community leaders and City officials including:
    • Dr. Londale Towns
    • City Councilmember Nick Bankston
    • City Councilmember Nancy Day-Achauer
    • Department of Neighborhoods Director Kym Douglas
    • South Linden Area Commission Chair Dawn Redman
    • North Linden Area Commission Chair Carol Perkins
    • Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carter
    • Department of Neighborhoods Community Planning team: Patrice Allen Brady, Will Wilder and De Lena P. Scales

  • 6 P.M. – Networking and Refreshments: Following the program, attendees can enjoy networking and refreshments.

The program will focus on the development, implementation and success of the Linden community plan. It emphasizes the crucial role of stakeholder ownership and partnerships. Councilmember Nick Bankston will address the importance of turning plans into action through collaborative efforts. The event program also includes impactful video presentations showcasing the community's progress.

Confirmed vendors representing the "10 Big Ideas" include:

  • Linden Economic Development Alliance (support entrepreneurs)
  • Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Eta Nu Nu chapter (support student success)
  • Linden Anti-Violence Team (reduce crime)
  • Department of Public Service (reimagine Cleveland Avenue)
  • One Linden School Initiative, Pre-K enrollment (address early childhood education)
  • Ohio Health Wellness Mobile (support resident health)
  • Department of Neighborhoods, onelinden.org website (connect the community)
  • CareSource, Life Services (connect residents to employment)

Additional vendors, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Central Ohio Community Land Trust, have been notified and are expected to participate.
