Deputy Inspector General Richard S. Blunt II

Deputy Inspector General Richard S. Blunt II was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and is a 20 year retired veteran of the United States Navy. While he began his naval career in 1989 as an Aviation Machinist Mate at Helicopter Submarine Light 32, serving in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, he later decided in 1994 to change career-fields and attended Intelligence Specialist School at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center in Dam Neck, Virginia. During his tenure as a Naval Intelligence Analyst, he served at several duty stations such as United States Space Command (Colorado Springs, CO), Naval Special Warfare Development Group (Dam Neck, Virginia), Naval Network Warfare Command (Little Creek, Virginia), USS STUMP (DD-978) (Norfolk, VA), and USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD-17) (Pascagoula, MS/Norfolk, VA). Deputy Blunt ended his 20 year active duty career in 2009 attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retiring from the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (Washington D.C.) where he served at the Drug Enforcement Administration HQ as the Special Security Officer (SSO) in the Office of National Security Intelligence.

In 2010, Deputy Blunt continued to serve his country as a Federal Government employee at the Defense Logistics Agency Intelligence (Columbus, OH) where he was the Operations Security, Information Security, and Counterintelligence Program Manager. He then went to serve as a government contractor for Facchina Global Services in Tampa, FL as a Contractor SSO. In 2013, Deputy Blunt returned home to serve the citizens of Columbus, working at the Columbus Division of Police as a Public Safety Manager and Supervisor of the Background Investigation and Polygraph Units. In 2021, Deputy Blunt transferred to the Office of the Mayor and served as a Public Safety Policy Analyst. Then in 2022, he joined Inspector General Hendricks in the City of Columbus, Department of the Inspector General, where he currently serves as the Deputy Inspector General.

Deputy Blunt attended Colorado Christian University in Colorado Springs, CO, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Resources/Organizational Management degree in 1998. He was later selected to attend the National Intelligence University at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington DC and earned his Postgraduate Intelligence Program Diploma in 2002 and his Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence degree in 2007. In 2018, he qualified as a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) Examiner. In his current role, he is a member of the Association of Inspector Generals (AIG) where he earned his certification as a Certified Inspector General (CIG) in 2022.
