Working with federal authorities and cybersecurity experts, the City of Columbus continues its investigation and response to a July cybersecurity incident.
According to the last census, Columbus is one of only 14 cities in the country that added over 100,000 people in the past 10 years and projected to reach 3.15 million by 2050. This projected growth has caught the attention of companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google, Intel, and others who are currently constructing large factories in the Central Ohio region, creating thousands of jobs. The need for smart transportation that provide access to these job opportunities along with affordable housing is critical. Thus, the need to “LinkUS.”
LinkUS is a strategic collaboration with the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Ohio Department of Transportation, City of Columbus, and the Central Ohio Transit Authority. The purpose is to improve mobility in Central Ohio through increased access to opportunity and affordable housing by creating reduced cost mobility options. It also serves as an economic development initiative to encourage public and private investment in transportation and development.
SMPS Columbus in partnership with COMTO Columbus (Conference of Minority Transportation Officials) will convene a panel of key stakeholders who will discuss LinkUS investment in smart development to connect communities and create opportunities for a more equitable and sustainable region for everyone.
