City Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Summer Youth Program Funding
Published on January 13, 2025
The City of Columbus is committed to serving vulnerable, at-risk and underserved youth, particularly those disproportionately impacted by crime, violence and other related challenges. To that end, 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that deliver summer programming to youth ages 5-18 who reside within the city’s corporate boundaries may apply online to receive funding support from the city.
Eligible organizations must provide programming during the summer months (i.e., May through September) and fulfill one or more of the following outcomes: Improved academic performance, health and well-being; and/or enhanced career readiness and workplace skills.
Funding support will be prioritized for summer programs that take place in or serve youth who reside in the city's “Opportunity Neighborhoods,” which include the Hilltop, Linden, Franklinton, South Side, Near East, Southeast, Northeast, and Northland neighborhoods as well as the Far East Side and the Far West Side.
Representatives from the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Department of Neighborhoods, Office of Education, and the Office of Violence Prevention will review the applications and collaboratively determine which organizations will receive city funding.
The deadline to apply for funding is Friday, February 14, at 5 p.m. Selected organizations will be notified in the spring.
