Measles

As of February 23, 2023, we have surpassed 42 days, or two incubation periods, since the last rash onset, which fits the CDC’s definition of the end of an outbreak. While we are grateful this measles outbreak is behind us, we know we are just one missed vaccine away from the next one. We urge parents to ensure timely vaccination with the MMR vaccine – and all childhood vaccines – which are safe and effective at protecting children and our community from preventable diseases

About Measles
The symptoms of measles include a fever, runny nose, cough, rash and red eyes. If you have these symptoms, call your doctor or Columbus Public Health – and stay home and avoid having visitors until you see a doctor.

Where to Get the Measles Vaccine
The MMR vaccine is available from your family doctor, Columbus Public Health and many local clinics and health centers. A full list of providers is available here in addition to vaccine safety information.
