Columbus Police Training Academy

The Chief James G. Jackson Columbus Police Academy is located at 1000 N. Hague Ave. Columbus, OH 43204. Within the Academy, our Training Bureau is committed to providing students with the finest law enforcement training available utilizing the most effective and efficient technologies in a modern, safe, and professional environment to establish superior institutional knowledge. The Training Bureau will employ the most up to date methodologies that are relevant and instructionally sound.

About Us

The Training Bureau consists of 38 sworn members and 4 civilians. These team members comprise the Basic Training Section (BTS) and the Advance Training Section (ATS).

Law Enforcement Training

Our primary responsibility is the professional development and education of police personnel, representing the values of professionalism embraced by the City of Columbus and Division of Police.

Civilian Training

With all of the active shooter/ active aggressor events and other critical incidents happening across the world, it only makes sense to be prepared. C.R.A.S.E. classes provide FREE training to the community from sworn officers who are experienced Division trainers.
