Neighborhoods across Columbus are hosting
National Night Out events tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025
COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus will join thousands of communities nationwide in celebrating the 42nd annual National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. NNO, which began in 1983, is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
The City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods and the Columbus Division of Police are proud to support a wide range of events across the city, from traditional block parties to larger community festivals. These events are designed to strengthen the relationship between residents and law enforcement, fostering a sense of community, friendship and shared responsibility for safety.
The Department of Neighborhoods was happy to award over $24,000 in grant funds to support NNO events in Columbus again this year.
"National Night Out is more than just a single event,” said Kym Douglas, Director of the City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods. “It's a powerful statement about the strength and unity of our neighborhoods. It’s a chance for us to come together as neighbors, build trust with our local police officers and show that we are committed to creating a safe and vibrant community for everyone in Columbus. We're incredibly proud of the grassroots efforts of our residents and community groups who make these events possible."
Columbus community liaison police officers will be actively participating in events throughout the city, providing opportunities for residents to meet and interact with the officers who serve their neighborhoods.
"We believe that a strong partnership with our community is one of the most effective tools we have in crime prevention," said Lt. Kyle Kincade, Columbus Police Community Liaison Section. "National Night Out provides a great opportunity to connect with residents in a positive, relaxed setting. We can't wait to see everyone out there, sharing a meal, playing games and building the relationships that are the foundation of a safe city."
Attached is a list of the NNO events that received funding from the City of Columbus Department of Neighborhoods along with when and where they are scheduled to take place across Columbus.
