Free After-School Snacks Program. Offered in partnership with Children’s Hunger Alliance. Each snack includes a fruit, vegetable, protein, grain, and milk.

Point of Distribution (POD) & Community Support Sites

Helping Families During the SNAP Benefit Delay

To make sure Columbus families have access to healthy food and essential items during the federal SNAP benefit delays, the City of Columbus, in partnership with Columbus Public Health, Recreation and Parks, and Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC), is hosting Point of Distribution (POD) centers at city recreation centers and Mobile Produce Market sites.

Each POD will distribute:

  • Frozen meals
  • Fresh produce
  • Shelf-stable groceries
  • Toiletries, hygiene products, and diapers

Representatives will also be available on-site to help residents enroll in:

  • Utility bill discount programs
  • The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Other community services and benefits

Hours: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Cost: All items are free for Columbus residents and SNAP recipients.

City Waste & Reuse Centers – Public Food Drop-Off

Residents who would like to donate non-perishable food, hygiene items, or household goods can drop them off during normal business hours.
All collected items will go directly to MOFC and the City’s POD sites.

Recreation Centers & Community Partners

  • Children’s Hunger Alliance – providing 1,500 meal boxes through after-school programs.
  • Lifecare Alliance – distributing frozen meals and snacks through Mobile Produce Markets.

Together, these partners are ensuring families, children, and seniors across Columbus stay nourished during this critical period.

How to Help

  • City employees may volunteer up to four work hours in November to support these efforts

Senior Meal Delivery (Franklin County Office on Aging)

Franklin County residents 60 years and older can receive home-delivered meals through Senior Options.
