Project Taillight

***Please ensure that you are submitting all required documentation with your application, applications with incomplete documentation will not be considered. You must submit a photograph of your valid Ohio driver’s license, a copy of your car title, a copy of your current registration and images of the vehicle you are seeking to have repaired.***


Project Taillight changes lives and improves public safety by providing free auto repairs for lower-income Columbus residents. The program brings the public and private sectors together to address a need in our community, frees up law enforcement to focus on serious and violent crime, and makes our roads and neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Project Taillight covers repairs that could cause drivers to be pulled over by state highway patrol for unsafe vehicles and subjected to vehicle inspections (ORC Title 45, Chapter 4513, Section 4513.02).

Repairs include:

  • Safety lights
  • Horn
  • Warning Devices
  • Lights (both bulbs and casings)
  • Mirrors
  • Brakes
  • Tires
  • Exhaust

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Car title/registration
  • Car must be 7 years or older
  • You must own the car (no payments or title loans)

Car repairs are completed by approved local auto repair partners.
