Accessibility & Accommodations
Digital Accessibility Commitment
The City of Columbus is required to make our web pages and services accessible to residents and customers with disabilities. Access to city government information, meetings, services, etc. is a right, not a privilege, and we are committed to meeting this challenge with our digital presence.
Our Standard
All Columbus.gov and City of Columbus websites shall meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA standards as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
These guidelines outline the requirements for providing accessible content to individuals with visual, auditory, physical, speech, language, learning, and cognitive disabilities; including people with limited dexterity and those who are blind or have low vision.
Ongoing Commitment
Digital accessibility is an ongoing process. We continue to monitor our content, train our content editors, and complete a structured review of web content to identify and remediate accessibility issues.
We focus our efforts on the most heavily used pages as well as those used to access major City services.
Known Limitations
We are continually working to improve accessibility on all City of Columbus digital assets and meet the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
However, some technical material, maps, and archived or legacy content may not meet the full suite of accessibility standards, and we are actively working to bring these into compliance. In addition, we are continuing to work with third-party vendors to bring their platforms to a fully accessible level.
Request an Accommodation
We are committed to providing alternative formats for content and accommodations for online City services. If you experience any barriers on our sites, we would like to hear about them.
