2026 Training Opportunities

Our primary responsibility is the professional development and education of police personnel, representing the values of professionalism embraced by the City of Columbus and Division of Police.

The below classes unless noted otherwise are open to all certified law enforcement officers who are presently employed by a law enforcement agency. A Columbus Police Officer will confirm your employment prior to your attendance. Registration for these classes will be completed by email only. If you have questions regarding any of these classes please email the Advanced Training Staff. Hostage Negotiations and Crisis Intervention, Phase I and II June 1-3, 2026 $675 This opening block of instruction includes instructor and class self-introductions and an overview of the class curriculum, historical context of negotiations, provided materials and suggested readings. Hostage Negotiations With the Empathy Impaired and Psychopaths July 20-22, 2026 $500 This advanced negotiation class is for police crisis (hostage)negotiators who have already passed a 40-hour basic certification course.
