Incident Summary: On 10/7/2026 at 6:40 pm, A white work style van and a bicyclist were both westbound Sullivant Ave., just east of Townsend Ave. As they entered the intersection, for reasons still unknown the van and the bicyclist sideswiped each other, and the van fled the crash scene continuing westbound on Sullivant Ave. The cyclist was transported to Grant Medical Center in serious condition by CFD.
The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the crash scene and initiated an investigation, which is ongoing.

Incident Summary:
On October 6, 2026, at 7:54 PM, Columbus Police officers were patrolling in the 2100 block of Clarendon Ln., when they heard gunfire. Upon checking the area, the officers located an unresponsive adult victim, identified as CEDRIC COLE, age 53, suffering from a gunshot wound. Columbus Fire medics transported Cole to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:27 PM. Next of kin notification has been made.
Several persons were observed in the immediate area prior to the victim being discovered. Detectives are working to identify those persons and establish a motive for the shooting. The investigation continues.

***UPDATE October 5, 2026: Investigators thank the public for their assistance in this investigation. With the public’s help, the suspect in the homicide of Jeffrey Scott Amaker has been identified as 32-year-old Michael Rashawn Wells. The vehicle driven by Wells has also been identified and recovered.
Detectives have charged Wells with one count of Murder and one count of Felonious Assault. Wells’
mugshot is attached to assist the public in identifying him.

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at approximately 2:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Barnett Road on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adults suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. One of the victims, identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Scott Amaker, was pronounced deceased at 2:47 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates both victims and the suspect became involved in a fight in the parking lot. Following the fight, the suspect retrieved a handgun and shot both victims.
The suspect is described as a black male with short hair, approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing all black clothing, including a black sweatshirt with the word “Think” across the chest in white lettering. See the attached photograph and video of the suspect.
After the shooting, the suspect was seen entering a gray or silver four-door vehicle with a rear spoiler and damage to the passenger side of the rear bumper. The vehicle fled northbound on Barnett Road. It is unknown whether the vehicle subsequently turned onto Mound Street or East Main Street. See the attached photographs of the vehicle.
Investigators are interested in any video recorded within the area indicated on the accompanying map between 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Investigators are also seeking video showing the vehicle fleeing after the shooting, northbound on Barnett Road, or traveling along either possible route onto Mound Street or East Main Street indicated on the map.

Incident Summary: On October 4, 2026 at approximately 4:16pm, Columbus Police Patrol Officers responded to OSU East Hospital on a report of a walk-in shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim had been struck multiple times by gunfire and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Further investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 2700 Block of Brentnell Ave. A crime scene was located in this area.

Incident Summary: On October 4, 2026, at approximately 12:38 AM, Columbus Police officers were dispatched to the area of Cleveland Avenue and Reynolds Avenue on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult victim, Brandon Parsons, suffering from an apparent stab wound. Columbus Fire Medic 1 personnel arrived and transported Mr. Parsons to an area hospital.
Despite all efforts by medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased at 1:15 AM. Next of kin have been notified.
Based on information developed by investigators, a Murder warrant was filed for Jacob Iams. On October 4, 2026, at approximately 11:35 AM, Iams was arrested without incident by Logan, OH police officers.

Incident Summary: On September 4, 2026, at 1:32 a.m., Columbus Patrol Officers responded to the 6100 Block of Zumstein Dr. on a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adult victims inside of the residence, suffering from gunshot wounds. The first victim, later identified as MARLENA DONNA HICKS, aged 60, was transported to a local area hospital by CFD M6. Despite life saving measures, Ms. Hicks was pronounced deceased at 2:33 a.m. Next of kin notification has been made. The second person suffering from a gunshot wound, later identified as WILLIAM DAVID SMITH II, was also transported to a local area hospital and will survive his injury.
Preliminary evidence indicates that Mr. Smith was handling the firearm in an unsafe manner when the weapon discharged, resulting in the death of Ms. Hicks. Mr. Smith has been charged and will be taken to the Franklin County Jail upon his release from the hospital.

Incident Summary:
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at approximately 2:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Barnett Road on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two adults suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business. Both victims were transported to a local hospital. One of the victims, identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Scott Amaker, was pronounced deceased at 2:47 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates both victims and the suspect became involved in a fight in the parking lot. Following the fight, the suspect retrieved a handgun and shot both victims.
The suspect is described as a black male with short hair, approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing all black clothing, including a black sweatshirt with the word “Think” across the chest in white lettering. See the attached photograph and video of the suspect.
After the shooting, the suspect was seen entering a gray or silver four-door vehicle with a rear spoiler and damage to the passenger side of the rear bumper. The vehicle fled northbound on Barnett Road. It is unknown whether the vehicle subsequently turned onto Mound Street or East Main Street. See the attached photographs of the vehicle.
Investigators are interested in any video recorded within the area indicated on the accompanying map between 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Investigators are also seeking video showing the vehicle fleeing after the shooting, northbound on Barnett Road, or traveling along either possible route onto Mound Street or East Main Street indicated on the map.

Incident Summary: On July 12, 2026, at approximately 7:27am the suspect entered a business in the 1600 block of N. High St. As the suspect left the business with unpaid items in his hand, the suspect stated to the employee "if you call the police, I'll come back and shoot you."

Incident Summary: On October 3, 2026, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Columbus Division of Police (CPD) patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting in the R/O the 800 block of Wedgewood Drive. While en route, CPD Radio Dispatch aired that the possible suspect was leaving the area in a white sedan, possibly a Chevorlet or Hyundai. Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from an apparent gun shot wound to their lower body. The victim was transported by CFD Medic to an area hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive their injury.

Incident Summary: On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 7:47AM Columbus Division of Police Patrol Officers responded to Mount Carmel East Hospital (MCE) on the report of a walk-in shooting victim. The victim was treated and stabilized by hospital staff. The victim advised the responding officers they had been shot by their domestic partner in the 3000 block of Amberfield Dr.
Domestic Violence Unit Detectives Derdzinski #2365 and Altherr #2265 were notified and responded to the MCE and initiated an investigation. The victim was interviewed and a suspect was identified. A warrant has been issued for the suspect.
The investigation continues.

Incident Summary: On 10/2/2026 at 10:29 pm, an Adult was operating a Toyota Avalon in the parking lot east of 3599 Chiller Ln. At the same time a Juvenile was voluntarily riding on the roof of the Avalon. For reasons still under investigation, the Juvenile fell off the Avalon. The impact with the asphalt caused a serious head injury to the Juvenile. They were transported to Mt. Carmel East Hospital. The Adult remained at the crash scene.
The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the crash scene and initiated an investigation, which is ongoing.

Incident Summary: On September 9, 2026 at approximately 8:53 PM, SUSPECT boarded a Cota public transit vehicle in the area of Chatterton Rd and Noe-Bixby Rd while acting irate and erratic then made several threats of physical harm directly toward the driver of transit vehicle causing her to credibly fear for her safety. SUSPECT then left in a white Dodge Ram truck.
SUSPECT was described as a black male in his mid 20's, approximately 5-07", 250 pounds, wearing a lime green shirt with logo "Authorized Haulers" (photos attached).

Incident Summary: On 10/2/2026 at 2:42 am, an Adult #1 was operating a GMC Denali westbound on Sullivant Ave. approaching Wrexham Ave. For reasons still under investigation the GMC ran off the north side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway the GMC struck a street sign then a utility pole. Columbus Fire Medic #17 transported the front seat passenger, Adult #2, to Grant Medical Center with broken bones in their right leg. Adult #1 was processed for Operating a Vehicle Intoxicated.
