Citywide Streetlighting

To Report Any Streetlighting Issues visit 311 Customer Service Center or call 614-645-3111 (weekdays 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.).

• For an existing light that needs repair, enter the 311 request as "Repair of Streetlighting."
• To request new streetlighting where none exists, enter the request as "Request for New Streetlighting."

The Division of Power (DOP) has been committed to providing and maintaining our city's streetlights since the late 19th century. Today, street lighting offers significant benefits to both residents and visitors of our city.

Overview:
The DOP proudly serves the community by supporting the street light system. There are about 58,000 streetlights in our system and we sell electricity to nearly 18,000 customers. The proceeds go to update circuits to ensure they are up to the latest standard, to cover the costs of repair and maintenance on the system, and to provide power to our valued customers.

As of the end of 2025, about 24.6% of the city’s streetlight systems were LED (approximately 14,106).

Upcoming projects include converting approximately 3,900 existing streetlights to LED in the Southside neighborhood (via the Smart Lighting Phase 2 later in 2026). As part of the Mayor's Clean and Safe Corridors Initiative, our crews have been converting 3,000 luminaires to LED in the areas surrounding Parsons, Livingston, and Sullivant Avenues. As we replace streetlights reported to be out, they are converted to LED.

Citywide LED Conversion:
We are working to change all low-pressure and high-pressure sodium lights to LEDs in phases based on the Citywide LED Conversion Project.

New Lighting Requests:
All new lighting is installed via priority areas identified in the updated prioritization plan, which is expected to start design in late 2026.

Lighting Assessments:
Assessments may be done for new neighborhood decorative lighting. Once it's the neighborhood's turn to receive new lighting, it will be asked if they want assessed for decorative lighting.
