Started in 2012, Get Active Columbus is run by Columbus Public Health's Institute for Active Living. The Institute's mission is to reduce and prevent chronic disease such as childhood obesity by developing strategies to increase healthy eating and physical activity and helping community partners to implement them.
This site strives to be a great online resource; a one-stop destination of resources, information, and fun where parents and kids can find best neighborhood locations to get active. GetActive Columbus is part of the city’s comprehensive plan to increase both physical activity opportunities and access to nutritious food.
A team that includes the Department of Technology, Columbus Public Health, and Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is creating the website, which is a work in progress. Stay tuned for enhancements and additional ideas to further the goal of a healthy, active Columbus.
