Statement from Councilmember Mitchell J. Brown on Veterans Day
[Columbus, OH] – The following statement regarding the observation of Veterans Day can be attributed in full, or in part, to Councilmember Mitchell J. Brown:
"Today, November 11th, we observe Veterans Day. I want to thank all of those individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
"As an Air Force veteran, I certainly understand the sacrifices made by all veterans. We owe our freedoms to them because they accepted the call-to-duty by serving our great nation selflessly with honor and dedication.
"We also owe a huge thank you to their families, for sacrificing precious memories with their loved ones while they served – for the missed birthdays, weddings and other precious moments of life.
"As a nation, we must continue to acknowledge and celebrate those who have sacrificed in the past to ensure our safety and sustain our patriotism.
"I challenge each of you, who is not a veteran, to take the opportunity today to reach out to a veteran and tell them, 'thank you' for serving our country!"
