Public Records Policy
Under Ohio Public Records Law, each department or office of the City of Columbus is responsible for maintaining its own records and responding to public records requests.
The City Clerk coordinates public records requests on behalf of the Members of Council for records that are maintained within their offices and public records of the City Clerk’s office. Requests can be emailed to: [email protected].
Public records requests from other city departments or offices should be directed to that department/office directly to the attention of “appointed records officer”.
It is the policy of the City of Columbus that all non-exempt public records are to be promptly and reasonably made available, upon request, for inspection or copying, to any person at all reasonable times during regular business hours.
