Council Begins Process for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area in Arena District
DORA to
run along Nationwide Blvd and include Nationwide Arena,
Huntington Park and the New
Crew Soccer Stadium
[COLUMBUS, OH] Council has received an application from
Mayor Andrew J. Ginther to create a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA)
in the Arena District. The DORA would encompass Nationwide Arena, Huntington
Park and the New Crew Stadium.
Council will receive comment during the virtual
public hearing on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 5p via WebEx. It will
include a presentation by the applicant and an opportunity for the public to
offer feedback on the proposal.
"We're eager to gather public feedback on such an exciting
proposal," said Councilmember Emmanuel V. Remy.
"This designated area is primed to be a popular destination for residents
to enjoy many memorable evenings while frequenting local businesses and taking
in a game."
The DORA would allow residents to purchase alcoholic beverages
from participating bars and restaurants and then take those drinks with them
outside and into other participating eateries and retail shops within the
designated area.
Patrons will be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage outdoors
within the designated area during all home Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus
Clippers, and Columbus Crew game days, beginning three hours prior to the start
of the game and continuing until 11:59p on that same day.
Residents are welcome to view the full application here. A copy of the
application will also be available for the public to view in the Columbus City
Clerk’s office.
Any resident seeking to submit written testimony should submit
their testimony to the office of Councilmember Remy. Written testimony must be
received by noon on the day of the hearing and should be emailed to Lucy Frank
at [email protected].
Any resident wishing to provide testimony during the virtual
hearing should email Lucy Frank at [email protected] by
noon on the day of the hearing to request a WebEx speaker link. Each speaker
will be limited to remarks lasting no longer than three minutes.
This hearing will be live-streamed and posted on the City of Columbus YouTube channel following
