Statement on the Guilty Verdict for the Murder of George Floyd from Councilmember Emmanuel Remy
[COLUMBUS, OH] The following statement can be attributed in full, or in part, to Columbus City Councilmember Emmanuel V. Remy:
"Today, justice has been rightfully served!
"I pray the family of George Floyd can begin to find peace in the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin. I hope this verdict sends a clear message that there WILL be accountability for any excessive use of force - especially when it leads to one's death.
"America made a step in the right direction today, but there is still a great deal of work to be done locally and around the nation. We will continue to embrace and engage our community as we continue the work to reimagine public safety in the city of Columbus.
"My heartfelt prayers are with the family of George Floyd."
