Currently, only jobs that pay $15 per hour or more qualify for city tax incentives. During the first hearing on September 20th, the Department of Development presented data on the pay scales of jobs presently in the City’s incentive portfolio, national market wage data, and a policy recommendation to increase the wage to an amount between $18.50 and $20 per hour. Tomorrow evening we will be hearing presentations from several invited community stakeholders to get their reactions to the first hearing and their thoughts on how we should move forward given the recommendation.
Residents interested in providing testimony either in-person or virtually at the hearing must notify JP Dorval at [email protected] by 4:00pm tomorrow. Written testimonies must also be submitted by 4:00pm tomorrow.
