New Economic Development Deals Would Create 77 New Jobs

Mayor Michael B. Coleman is advancing two incentive plans to City Council that would bring 77 new jobs to Columbus while retaining nearly 100. Unique Leasing, Inc. will relocate and retain 37 full-time jobs, and create 43 new full-time permanent positions in Columbus. Pillar Technology Group, Inc. plans to expand its operation, retaining 56 full-time jobs and creating 40 full-time permanent positions.

“We’ve been able to accelerate our momentum as one of the nation’s best cities for jobs because of the diversity of our economy and the high-quality businesses that choose to locate and expand here,” Mayor Coleman said. “I am grateful to Unique Leasing and Pillar Technology for investing their talents and resources in the City of Columbus.”

The city is proposing a jobs growth incentive of 25 percent for five years with Unique Leasing. The company plans to relocate and expand its trucking operation from London, Ohio, to Columbus at 3879 Fisher Road to meet its increased growth and consumer demand. Unique Leasing is a trucking business headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, providing freight transport services for a variety of customers, hauling goods through most of the lower United States and Canada.

“Columbus continues to aggressively work to attract and retain businesses of all sizes,” said Councilmember Zach M. Klein, Development Committee chair of Columbus City Council.  “Our Development Department is ready to assist companies that want to make a move to our community or are looking to expand in Columbus.”

The city plans to enter into a five-year, 50 percent Columbus downtown office incentive agreement with Pillar Technology Group. Pillar plans to expand its Columbus operation by creating 40 full-time permanent positions and retaining 56 full-time jobs.  Pillar is a software development and strategic business consulting company. The company was founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and maintains multiple operations in several states.
