Councilmember Tyson Announces Hearings on Budget Proposal, Third Quarter
Finances
(Columbus)—Columbus City Councilmember Priscilla R. Tyson,
chair of the Finance Committee, has announced two public hearings to discuss
Columbus finances and Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s proposed 2014 General Fund
Budget, which he submitted today to City Council.
“Mayor Coleman’s budget again puts community resources where
they are needed most, in Columbus neighborhoods, to improve the lives of our
residents,” said Councilmember Tyson. “Columbus City Council looks forward to a series of public hearings to
share details of the budget with the public, and also to the Council amendment
process that will start early next year.”
Councilmember Tyson, who also chairs the Workforce
Development and Health & Human Services Committees, will hold a review of
third quarter City finances on Wednesday, November 20, at 5pm in City Council
Chambers. Public testimony will be
accepted and speaker slips are available until 5 pm the day of the
hearing. City Council will host a
public briefing on the proposed budget, including a report by City Auditor Hugh
J. Dorrian, Thursday, November 21, at 4 pm. That meeting will also take place in City Council Chambers. Speaker slips will not be accepted at the
budget briefing but both meetings will be broadcast live on CTV, Columbus’
cable access channel 3.
City Council will be announcing a complete budget public
hearing calendar in the coming days.
