Mobile App Sets Record Number of Downloads in First Week
Columbus, Ohio – After
one week, the Columbus Police Mobile App has surpassed the developer’s record
number of initial downloads following launch. With over 5,000 downloads in
seven days, Columbus’ app has surpassed all previous launches across the nation
by MobilePD.
“We are excited about the success of the app, and tips are
already rolling in,” said Councilmember Emmanuel V. Remy. “This resource is a
tremendous asset for folks in the Columbus community, and I’m thrilled to see
over 5,000 downloads in the first week.”
“After strategically timing the launch of the app a few days
ahead of Red, White & Boom, CPD had a successful test run with push alerts
downtown surrounding the event,” said Columbus Division of Police Chief Thomas
Quinlan. “We look forward to testing the capabilities of this tool as more and
more folks across Columbus download it to their devices.”
With over 100 app launches over the last decade, developer
MobilePD said the launch of the Columbus Police Mobile App has surpassed all
other launches during the first week. “We’re blown away by the speed at which
Columbus has begun accessing their Division of Police’s mobile app,” said
Kushyar Kasraie, CEO of MobilePD. “With 5,421 downloads in week one, the City
of Columbus has demonstrated a desire for more information about their
community.”
Developed by MobilePD, an Austin-based technology company, the
Columbus Police Mobile app helps residents stay connected wherever they are by
offering mobile access to news, crime maps, social media, alerts and more. It
even allows the public to submit anonymous tips to the department. Anyone can
download the application for free today through the iOS App Store and
the Google Play Marketplace.
