ParkMobile Launches New ParkColumbus App Offering Mobile Parking Payments in the City of Columbus
People in the City of Columbus will
be able to easily pay for parking right from their mobile device
Atlanta, GA – DATE
– ParkMobile,
the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in North America,
announced today the launch of the new ParkColumbus app. The ParkColumbus app is
an important component of the Short North Parking Plan as an option for paying
at parking meters and mobile payment-only parking zones. The ParkColumbus app
is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
Starting this week, people in Columbus will begin to
see new stickers on the approximately 600 parking
meters in the Short North Arts District. The ParkColumbus app will be available
on mobile payment-only streets starting January 22, 2019. To pay for parking
using the ParkColumbus app, simply enter the zone number posted on the sticker,
choose the duration and touch the “start parking” button. The ParkColumbus app will
send alerts when the parking session is about to expire so a user can extend
time right from the app.
The City of Columbus plans to add mobile payment to
all 4,500 parking meters and kiosks starting in late 2019.
Additionally, the ParkColumbus app will offer a
resident guest pass, providing special 24-hour parking rates when visiting
residents in the Short North and Children’s Hospital areas. Visit parkcolumbus.com
for more information on the resident guest pass program.
With the launch of the ParkColumbus app, ParkMobile
continues to expand its presence in Ohio. The service is currently available in
Cincinnati, Toledo and Cleveland and at several universities, including Ohio
State University, Case Western Reserve and Ohio University. ParkMobile also
offers event parking reservations at Nationwide Arena, the Arena District,
ExpressLive, Huntington Park and the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair.
Additionally, users can use ParkMobile to make reservations for Cleveland
Browns football at FirstEnergy Stadium.
“As
a smart city, Columbus is always looking for innovative ways to alleviate
traffic congestion and improve the parking experience,” said Robert Ferrin,
Assistant Director for Parking Services with the City of Columbus. “This new
ParkColumbus app gives people an easy way to pay so they can skip the meter and
instead pay with their phone.”
“We
are excited to partner with the City of Columbus,” said Jon Ziglar, CEO of
ParkMobile. “We already have a large and growing base of ParkMobile users around
Ohio. This expansion into Columbus offers more smart parking options for people
as they travel around the state.”
